Description: The site of the project is in a historic area, where there are some old Beijing quadrangles need to converse. So, the first thing we should do is well dealing with the connection between the ancient courtyard and the new part. Moreover, our scope should not be limited by this. The presentation of contemporary attributes of my project is necessary. In this project, I focus on presenting typical Chinese culture with a transform Hutong form, which is evolved from ancient Chinese city texture.
Liuli Chang street
The site is next to the Old Peking Folk Shop Streets-Liulichang which can trace back to Ming Dynasty when a renowned colored glaze factory (Liuli Chang in Chinese) was in production in the street, which made glazed tiles for the palaces, temples and residences of the officials.
Traditional Drama Are On The Decline
there are only 6 traditional drama theaters in Beijing which are having very little influence to the surrounding citizens, but there are still many middle-aged and elderly people want to have more place to enjoy the memorable traditional drama.
Perspective of Experience
Follow the guideline to visit the center, you will easily like walking through the traditional Hutong, the difference is that you will find some a surprise packet on next street corner.
